Parenting after a Loss

she's going to suck a soothie for the rest of her life...

or rather the rest of her pacifier sucking days... grrr...

I have tried EVERY SINGLE 6+ month pacifier available and Avery takes one suck - looks at me like "mom, what the fucck do you think this is?" and then pops it out of her mouth.  All she wants is the Soothie NEWBORN pacifier.  Is this weird???  I got her some of the 3-6 month soothies but they are harder silicone and she hates them.

do I just give up and she'll suck the NB soothie until we wean her?

  • I say sure. My baby decided she hated the soothie when she was about 2 weeks old. I was so sad cuz I think they are the cutest. She really likes the Nuk ones now..

  • My (almost) two year olds still have newborn soothies for bedtime/naps.. LOL!  They hated any other ones.
  • We are in the same boat I have a whole box full of all types of pacis and the only ones mine will take are those ugly green soothies as well.  I try every once in awhile but always end up going back to the green ones.
  • DD wasn't ready for the bigger paci till around 7 months. something about her mouth not being big enough yet. you might get lucky and she might just be done with it in a few months or she'll move up to the other size. I pretty much just took away the infant ones and told her if she wanted a paci she had to take the bigger one (she could fit the entire newborn paci in her mouth, not cool, makes a great choking hazard) now she doesn't care since all she does is chew on them when she's teething and use them for naps/bedtime.

  • I went through a spurt of buying every paci on the freaking market last week when Leo was in teething hell, hoping he'd like another kind. But all he will take is the newborn size avent ones. These kids are picky, huh?
