3rd Trimester

Ok, so now I am sleeping like crap

This sucks.  I was up for almost an hour last night, peeing, coughing and trying to get comfy.  Now I am exhausted and I am beginning to wheeze and cough again.  WTF?  What do you do to help you sleep better at night?

P.S.  I hate baths.  Weird I know.  I will use it as a last resort but for now...

Baths are gross to me too. Nothing like sitting in dirty water to relax. Ick!

Sorry you're not sleeping good, I have no advice on getting a good sleep. I sleep like poo too.

  • I'm right there with you. I toss and turn and shift and end up sitting up looking around the room for anything that can help. It sucks and I'M TIRED! Please let me know if you discover help. I need it, too!
  • I don't think there is a secret. I get up and pee 3-4 times a night, I wake up every time I need to roll over. I think sleeping like crap is a 3rd tri requirement.

  • Yep, I've joined the sleeping like crap club too.

I've tried cutting out caffeine hours before bedtime, taking a hot shower to relax, sleeping with body pillow and/or propped up with extra pillows, changing the temp in our condo and sleeping in less clothes/blankets so I don't wake up sweating and both Unisom and Benadryl - I still can't get more than a straight hour or so before waking up to adjust or pee, and I can't get more than 4-5 hours (with brief periods of waking up) before I have to get up all together because I am too damn uncomfortable.

I also can't sleep on either side for longer than about 45-60 minutes, even on my left side my back starts hurting horribly and my arms and legs will fall asleep :(

And I HATE hearing the "oh it is practice for after the baby comes" line - no sh!t sherlock, but I'm damn uncomfortable and I want my sleep.

  • I use a body pillow and all kinds of other pillows to prop me up.  I don't really get up very often to pee (maybe once a night) but I can't sleep in one position for more than about an hour because my hips and back start to hurt.  Plus I've been waking myself up with my own snoring the last few weeks too.

Yes.  And I am so tried during the day, just not in the middle of the night!

  • I am also.  My hips hurt from sleeping on one side and turning over becomes a project in itself plus sharing the bed with DH makes me confined to a smaller space that I need along with indigestion that doesn't go away....
  • I nap during the day *any* time I'm tired.  At least that way, I can get enough hours during the day, even if it's not all at night.  The last 2 weeks, I've had to sleep semi-sitting up on the couch.  It's so much more comfy than trying to sleep on the bed.  My hips hurt too much to sleep in bed.  I get a solid 8-9 hours on the couch, vs 5 in bed.  But I don't have any problem going back to sleep after getting up to pee.
