We were going out to run some errands yesterday when we saw this man get into a van holding this little tiny baby in his arms wrapped in a blankie. Just sat down in the passenger seat (and didn't buckle himself up either) and they took off. We were coming out from the apartment complex and they were across the street about to drive off down the street. We ended up driving behind them after they started to go. DH called the cops and gave them the license plate and where we were. We ended up turning before any cop car caught up with the, but I am hoping they were able to find them.
It made me think about here. There was just a post like this not too long ago about someone seeing an infant riding in a car without a carseat. WTF are people thinking? Why does that sound like a good idea to someone? It pissed me off.
Re: We are cop callers too RE:carseat
Good for you! I would have done the same exact thing.
Don't go to Mexico then. When we were there we saw more lap babies than I could imagine. One woman had her boob all the way out, with the kid just eating away! It really shocked me, and thankfully haven't seen anything like it in the States.
I would totally call the police too!
I would have done the same thing. I hope they get caught.
There's a guy that drops his toddler off at daycare everyday. He drives a small sports car w/only the 2 seats. The carseat is in the passenger seat. That's can't be legal right?!
When we went to Cozumel everyone rode scooters, and I saw one that didn't have a seat on it - they had bungee corded a wooden barstool where the seat would have gone. ?The man driving it had a baby in a sling, I couldn't believe it!
It's legal if there is no backseat, in most states anyway. I hope he's disabled the driver's side airbag if there is one.
Height of stupidity though, regardless of the law. Trade the damn car in, ffs.
