Clicky poll, baby clothes quilt

Can't decide which pattern to use.  You helpy me?  With baby clothes, it's obviously going to need to be made from pretty small pieces, but I don't mind buying some fabric to supplement if I use a pattern with big pieces.  I am not a novice.

1. Crazy twist block pattern.  I would do a narrow border in between each block

2. Mosaic pattern

3. Spiderweb

  • would it be easier, since it's small pieces, to do a log cabin type?

  • I'm not a fan of log cabins. :)

Quilting is really, super, extremely easy ladies.  Pick up an easy pattern, like a Yellow Brick Road (which would be perfect for baby clothes, by the way).  If you can sew a straight seam, you can quilt!

And to to the 35% who thinks they're all fug :) do you have any other recomendations?

  • as someone who's already pieced a baby clothes quilt, the spiderweb is your best bet but most complicated of course. It's up to you what you want to do.  I did 4 inch and 2 inch squares for mine, pretty simple but actually thats fine.  My recommendation is to keep it in squares or very easy geometrical patterns because it's easier to stretch the fabric that way, but of course tinier pieces would make it easy to stretch the fabric too.  However the smaller the pieces, the more fabric you waste on seams.  Its a positive and negative either way.  Here's my pre-pieced layout.  Definitely do not go higher than anything needing 4inch widths.

The main green, blue, and small white squares are filler. The rest were clothes.

  • When I say "stretch" the fabric, I mean make it go a long ways.  I used 15 outfits here alone, and that was with using the most efficient layout possible, and all the filler fabrics.
