Moms of 6 monthers - Come on In

Hi there!

Can you please describe your LO's nap schedule during the day? (number and length of naps) and length of awake time between naps?

My DS used to be a great napper and all of a sudden he is refusing to go to sleep, both during the day and night. He was sick last week, but that shouldn't still be affecting him this week. I don't know what to do.

  • My (almost) 6 monther... well, her naps have sucked! I got two 30 minute naps yesterday.  One in the car.

So has her night sleep... she's been waking multiple times, which she hasn't down in ages.

  • she usually takes 3 or 4 30 min to 45 min naps during the day.  Sometimes she will take a good one that is at least 1.5 hrs but that is only a few times a week.  she's been like this for a couple months now.  I worry that she doesn't get enough sleep.
  • She's almost 6 months, so I'll bite.  She takes 3 - 4 naps/day starting around 10 a.m. Her first nap at 10 a.m. is her longest nap - she'll sleep about 2 - 3 hours during that nap.  She wakes up and eats/plays for about 2 hours and then goes back to sleep for another hour or so.  This pattern goes on throughout the day until she goes to bed.
  • 1st, DD fought me tooth and nail on her naps last wk, but is usually a pretty good napper.  she's back to her usual self this wk.  anyway, she takes 3 naps a day.  two of them (her morning and late afternoon naps) are for a good 1.5 hrs.  the one in between is usually while we're out running errands, walking, etc so not sure that counts as a good nap.  those last from 30-45 mins.  awake time b/t naps is a max of 2 hrs.
  • She usually takes three 1 hr naps during the day. Sometimes one nap is 2 hrs but that's rare. Around 9, around noon and around 3. Sometimes she takes a quick cat nap around 5 and then she'll stay up a bit later. She gets up at 7am and goes to bed between 7 and 8. She STTN most nights.

((reading this, I realize that she's not very consistent!))

  • Colin is not a great napper and his nap schedule is off a little since I just started back at work.  He is also sick so...

He wakes around 6:30 am and then takes his first nap around 9.  This nap is around 30-60 minutes.  Then he naps around 12 for 30-40 min at daycare.  Then they TRY to get him to nap again, but usually it doesn't work.  If they can get him to nap again it usually is around 3 for 30 min.  I try to get him to nap again when he gets home around 5:30 and he refuses.  So we keep him up until 7:30.

He goes to bed at 7:30 and every night is different since he is sick.  When he wasn't sick he would sleep 7-2, waking once.  then we would co-sleep and he would wake 2 more times.  usually nursing once.
