Babies: 9 - 12 Months

what rules do you break when your dc is sick?

Both my boys are sick (ear infections/colds) and I'm breaking some rules.

- I'm usually pretty tough w/ naps (they sleep well) but I let Max slept w/ me this am and Luke sleep w/ me in the Lazy Boy for the pm nap.

- Max hasn't had an appetite (Luke, on the other hand, is eating like it's a all-you-can-eat).  Tonight, Max had lil' crunchers and yogurt melts for dinner - he totally refused his fav (avecado).  SO, I just gave him more crunchers and melts.

- We usually watch a little tv each day but it was on ALOT today.  They're just so whiny and it really mellows them out (ya, mind to mush perhaps)

hmmm - this turned into quite the confesion.  What rules do you break when the baby's sick?

  • I let her sleep in our bed if she's having a really hard time sleeping.?

  • We were just talking about this tonight! I told dh that Jack is going to be a handful when he goes back to daycare tomorrow - he's had 5 days of being very lax 'rules' because he's had the flu. We've given him bottles to help him relax and take his naps, held him for naps, and pretty much carried him around all weekend. Yeah... tomorrow will be rough for him and daycare girls!

  • any and all..but my ds is only 6 months, so maybe things will change later.

  • We bring him into bed if he wakes in the middle of the night and won't go back to sleep.  We let him be as clingy as he wants.  He was down playing for a total of about 20 minutes today, didn't go in the cart at the store and has been on one of us all day.  Thank god DH was home to

  • Honestly we've been super-lucky and DS has only been sick once, about two weeks ago.

I broke every rule.  Whatever it takes to make sick, whiny baby happy.

  • Why does that keep happening to me?  The nest hates me. Embarrassed

  • Not sure if I would call them "rules" but when my DS is sick I bring him into our bed if he is having trouble sleeping, snuggle on the floor and watch TV, and give him apple sauce and vanilla yogurt for dinner because I know he will eat it.
