How many prefolds and what size?

I am starting my stash of CDs and so far I have only purchased AIOs or pockets, figured they'd be best for when DS starts daycare.  As far as prefold go for home, how many should I get?  I am on cottonbabies.com and notice they have a preemie size...is this pretty small?  How many of this size vs. infant would you suggest?  Thanks!

Re: How many prefolds and what size?

  • I think it depends on how long you plan to use them. I'm getting 24 infant size Indian prefolds. I plan to use them for newborn then move on to fitted and AIO.

I started with 2 dozen infants (green stitching) ones and then had 1 dozen standard/regular (white stitching) and 2 dozen premium (blue).  My son is 3 and a bean pole, so the standard still works for us.
  • For some reason your whole post didn't load up the first time. I think you'll be fine with infant size. I haven't heard any complaints about the infant size being too big. You can secure them tight enough, so I think it's fine.

  • we get by with one dozen prefolds and a dozen fitteds along with a few AIOs for night time. we do laundry every other day.

i rec the orange or yellow edge prefolds from GreenMountainDiapers.com

oh, and the newborn sized prefolds later make good pocket stuffers when they are outgrown.
