Parenting after a Loss

My boobs don't leak and I haven't felt "let down"

She seems satisfied and my nipple shield always has milk in it when she's finished, so I know I've got something going.  I'm not wearing breast pads because I don't need them, but I'm afraid I'll forget before going in public and have a massive leak.

Does that seem odd?

  • Not at all. Not everybody experiences leaks!  And I don't think I figured out what letting down felt like until about a week ago! It's all such a learning process for your  body. Sounds like you are doing a great job!

  • i only leak from the breast he isn't nursing on (while he's nursing that is).  other than that - no leaking. i can feel let down - it feels like electricity through my breast. some women don't feel it at all.
  • I don't always feel a "let down". I was glad my lactation consultant warned me about that because I had been stressed out about not feeling it. Occassionally my breast pads are wet when I take them off, so I wear them just in case, but usually they're dry.
  • I don't leak and I don't feel let down either.  If that's weird, then I'm right there with you!
  • I only leaked if I went out and gave a bottle instead of nursing. And it took me about 5-6 weeks to figure out what the letdown sensation actually felt like.
