last night i was working and part of my job as a nurse is knowing how old my patients are and their date of birth to correctly identify them.
so i was getting info on this one "kid" and he was born in 1991 and he is 18!! holy moly that is the year i graduated. im 36 now. so this means this "kid" was just a wee infant when i was a senior in high school.
i hadnt thought about it in awhile.
so what year did you all graduate from high school? and what was the first concert you went to?
like i said me 1991 and i went to the first Lollapallooza (sp?) concert that year too. it had Jane's addiction, nine inch nails, butt hole surfers, and of all people Ice T
Re: not 3TCR related. i feel old and a poll!
I graduated 1989. ?I am 37 years old. ?My 20 year high school reunion is this June. ?www.unionclassof89.com
I remember going to an Olivia Newton John concert with some friends and my mother. ??
oh i should've added to the poll who were your favorite bands,
me yes i loved me some guns and roses, metallica, yes madonna, i'm ashamed to say Duran Duran also, Depeche Mode, Poison, Whitesnake, Warrant, Beastie boys. i could go on and on., but i would say Depeche Mode was one of my most faves, no longer though i dont like the new stuff
1988 here. I'm 39 now. and I also feel OLD occasionally.
As for concerts, I think it might have been a David Bowie concert - was he on tour in the summer of 1986?
If we get pregnant today, our kids will graduate in 2027 or so!...
Ok, now I feel ANCIENT...
I graduated in 1989. The first concert I went to was Corey Heart (big song was "Sunglasses at Night")
I was a huge Madonna fan though. The one and only time I ever got in trouble at school was when I younger, and I turned up wearing ripped lace leggings under my uniform, and rosary beads around my neck.
Needless to say, this did NOT go over well with the nuns at my convent school.
Oh, how could I have left out Poison! How about White Lion. Mike Tramp was a super hottie. Kip Winger. OK, now I'm just getting sad...?
1988!
I never "feel" old. It's only when I do the math that I think...holy crap! How did this happen?
Oh yeah, and then there are those moments when I'm just about due to cover my grays and I see how darn many there are now. That's a big reminder that I'm not a kid...
My first concert: I was 15 or 16, and a group of us took a bus to Philly (from the sticks in Western PA) to go to the first Live Aid. I still can't believe my mom let me go - she can't, either! But it was one of the highlights of my high school years.
We're all about the same age here! Fun!
I graduated in 1989 (20 year reunion this summer!).
I went to Donnie and Marie at the state fair with my mom when I was little. Then in high school I went to Huey Lewis and the News with a friend. the next big one was INXS, which I loved!
What a fun trip down memory lane!! As I read each post, so many great songs and fun memories kept coming back.
I graduated in 1991. And, I wouldn't call it a concert, but my first live musical performance was watching LL Cool J perform at a sorority/fratrnity step show with my older sister and her friends. Of course, I thought, who is this skinny kid, he's terrible--he'll never make it. (Boy, was I wrong. LOL!!).
And, lebraly, I concur--back then, Rick Springfield was HOT!!!
What a fun post!! Thanks. I needed this today.
