NBOTB related: How to get fishy small out of cast iron

DH took it upon himself to cook up seafood while I was @ work & now the apartment stinks to high heaven of seafood.  Thankfully I have high powered incense from India that has killed the smell in the air but the bastard used my favorite cast iron pan to cook & I swear it stinks too.  How do you get such a smell out of cast iron?  Washing it in baking soda didn't work; that was a Google suggestion.

  • What about heating up some oil in it??
  • Loading the player...
  • Try coating it in a paste made of water and sea salt and letting it sit for a bit before scrubbing it. Alternately, you may have to actually use soap on it and just re-cure the pan afterward.

  • rub dishwasher (the machine not regualr dish soap) with a little tiny bit of water into the cast iron with your fingers and light scrubby.  Then rise well, and re-oil.
