Menopur Burning

I am injecting 150 units of Menopur each night and it burns so much. Anyone else experience this? Is there anything to do before the injection to make is a little more bearable? I've taken Gonal-F, Lupron, and MDL and never experienced this before.

Re: Menopur Burning

  • I had to do 3 vials of the menopur. It felt like someone was pouring acid into my stomach. The only thing that made it easier was doing it really, really slowly. It didn't burn as much. GL!!
  • Yeah, I have the same thing, and no helpful fix. ?I do inject it slowly, which helps a little. ?I've also noticed that certain spots seem to hurt more than others - but I can't figure out a definite pattern, so it's a luck of the draw thing. ?During the injection, I repeat to myself, "this is one less of these to do, one closer to being done." ?But the stuff still feels like acid.
  • I am with smilee it's hard to make it better. I just injected it really slow. It seemed the faster I pushed the more it burned.

If you have to do ganirelix you will hate that just as much.

I just made sure to ice it for about 15 minutes before the injections.

  • Yes, I agree I hate menopur I haven't found anything to make it better either
  • Something that I do before all my injections including the Menopur is I numb the area completely with an ice pack for 10 minutes before each one. Once numb my husband gives me my injection. My Menopur was to be in my butt, I numbed the area and did not even feel it at all, I did not feel the needle or the medication burn. My have been very easy to stand because I use the ice pack. Both the Dr. and nurse told me that this affects nothing and it alright to do. I am telling you ladies--it has made it so much easier for me going through the IVF cycle.
  • Ice Ice baby!LOL...so lame. but yes, ice the area first, it helps!
  • I am with you...it burns, it sucks, but I have not found anything I can do about it.?

    Sorry. ?

  • Menopur is the only thing I have ever taken (besides Ovidrel, which was a breeze)...I stimmed for 16 days straight (IUI) cycle, starting out at 75 ui up to 150 ui, I thought I was going to die it burned so badly. Think it is pretty normal for this drug. Good luck!
