Anyone else get a text about Wal-mart shooting tonight?

My phone has been blowing up all day with the same exact fwd'd text saying 'there's a gang initiation shooting 3 woman at wal-mart tonight, not sure which one. confirmed on tv.... yada yada.' Not sure if it's just being passed around in So Cal but it's so annoying because 1 - snopes said the same message (with slight variation) has been going around on the internet since 2005 and 2 - I'd like to know which specific tv stations "confirmed" this and 3 - I don't go to wal-mart anyways..... Sounds like a big fat forwarded email turned text message if you ask me!!

Anyone actually seen this reported on tv?? Not just "a text message is going around saying (this) is gonna happen" .... I want a police chief or something making an official annoucement/statement to believe it.

    I got the text too and I am in Washington state and some of the girls on 3rd Tri also posted about it. I haven't heard anything on the news.

    The same thing was going around S Georgia earlier in the week.  The gang task forces investigated it but found no evidence it was true.  They put extra police at the Wal-mart just in case but nothing happened.  I think it is the latest urban legend.

    My mom works for the Sheriff's dept in Stanislaus Co. and the most she's hearing about it is that people are calling in and asking about it. I'm taking it with a grain of salt, because honestly if they were going to do it they wouldn't announce it. It's even going around all the way up here if that makes you feel better...DH said it was probably started by some manager at Target lol!

    My mom lives in Pennsylvania and warned me not to go to Wal-Mart tonight. So apparently this thing is making the rounds across the country. I agree with the pp if they were going to shot ppl. I don't think they would announce it.

    Haha! I told DH that it was an evil scheme thought up by all the businesses that wal-mart is putting to shame since the ecomony is so bad - they're the only ones still making a profit.

    And No, I don't believe it. I was just wondering how far reaching it was....just to add to my point that it's a fake fwd, not real.

    It's going around New Orleans also.  There was a segment on the news tonight talking about the fact that it was a bunch of BS and they have found no evidence that there is any truth to it.  Apparently it's been going around for a while.

    It went around while at work yesterday... and turned out to be a hoax as of this morning. Crazy how it traveled around. I'm in Florida.

    That's an urban myth from 2005. They said that on the radio this morning. It started in another state a few years back and now it resurfaced in Florida. So it's a fake.
    Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.

    OMG - I got probably 5-6 texts from different friends this afternoon with that same message! I live in VA, so this must be some crazy game. I thought it was a local problem and I was worried to death. Thanks for the post and thank God it's just a hoax.

    My fwd- happy sister sent this to me.  I deleted it.  You can stay home and avoid all contact with people and Walmarts but then an airplane part will fall through your roof and kill you.  Que sera.
