Motrin everynight this week for teething-Too Much??

My poor DS is teething pretty bad & waking at night crying. I've been giving him a dose of Motrin before bed everynight this week to help ease the pain.

Is this excessive/too often?  What was the most day in a row you gave your DC meds for teething?

He doesn't get any during the day.  It seems to only bother him at night.

  • Motrin can be hard on their tummies, but as long as his tummy is fine I would not worry.   I have heard that as adults the pain from teething would be almost unbearable.  I would keep it up till they break through.

  • I would say yes just because I believe you give someone medicine all the time it doesn't work as well.  Try soothing other ways if you can.  DD likes the teethers not frozen too cold for her or just refridgerated.

  • I used Tylenol when DD was teething, and our pedi said that as long as I was only giving her one dose per day/night, it was fine to give it to her as long as she needed it.

Ditto this. If it's a "just at bedtime dose" I think you're ok till they break through.

  • I did the same thing recently when DS was teething. The bottle says not to use it more than 10 days in a row. I think we did it for 7. I think it is fine.
