Please review my menu and tell me what you think about amounts. Right now if everyone comes to DS's party who said they will or even 'maybe' come puts us at 19 people. We could even say an even 20 if DS's other aunt comes.
Here's the menu:
Beef sandwiches
Chips/dip
Hawaiian salad
Veggie tray
For drinks I have one case of soda, one case of diet and grandma is bringing something else non-soda. We always have water and iced tea in the house.
I can buy the beef in 5lb increments. I was planning on buying 10lbs, that's still enough right? That's 1/2lb per person, max. Rolls come in packs of 18, so I should get 2 of those to be safe (they are small).
How much Hawaiian salad should I get? That's been the trickiest for me.
Of course there's the cake and some extra cupcakes too.
Re: RSVP numbers keep increasing!
This sounds so similar to my DD's party. We had 100% RSVP (AAAAHHH!) and had it not been for 7 people getting sick and 3 others just not coming we would have been in serious space trouble in our home. As it was we had ~27 people here and used every available space. Thank goodness we have a finished basement playroom and many of the guests were kids who were happy to run amok down there and leave the babies and adults to the kitchen/dining/living rooms upstairs.
That said, I think what you said about the meat quantity sounds good. The salad is tough, but if it is the only side dish you will have I would overestimate and eat leftovers before I would run out of everything. What time is the party? I did 2pm and offered appetizers and cupcakes and had only pasta salad left over. Again, my thought being the salad gives peole something to nibble on after the main dish is gone. Honestly, all the 1st b-days I have gone to recently (there are many new ones in my circle) have been more about the kids instead of the traditional buffet style eat and chat kind of parties I used to have. I'm sure whatever you put out for your guests will be fine, and just enough! GL!
