Slow vs medium flow nipples

For those who use bottles (BM or FF) - I'm curious as to your experience.

At 3 months of age, DS is still using slow flow nipples and even then, sometimes it seems too fast!  we were initially using the special Haberman nipple that only releases milk when he sucks (it's to help him learn to suck!) - so he was used to NO flow.

But he just does not seem to do well w/ a fast flow at all....  anyone else experience this?

Re: Slow vs medium flow nipples

  • If you are also BFing you have to stick with slow. C was on slow the entire year and J will be too.

  • I EBF and have stuck with the slow nipples.  DH asked if we should move up a level, but I'm afraid DS will get used to the faster flow, so I stick with the slow nipples.
  • The slow flow keeps the draw strong so your supply does not suffer, which it will of you go to an faster nipple. Baby will not draw at the breast as strong.
