I went to the doctor for my weekly check-up and my blood pressure was high so they sent me to the hospital for blood work to make sure I wasn't pre-eclamytic. At this point it had been the third time that they sent me to the hospital for the same thing. I wasn't and my urine had no protein in it but they wanted me to stay in the hospital until I delivered. That same day they had me see some high risk doctors who said there was no need to wait that I should just deliver. I was 36 weeks 5 days. So that same day they started cervadil (?) and magnesium (which is for the high blood pressure to make sure I didn't have a seizure during the birth) and then a midnight started pitocin and then at that point I was only 50-60% effaced and a fingertip dilated. At 1 o'clock pm the next day I was still only a fingertip dilated and the ob said that he did think I would go on my own especially because of the magnesium. They use magnesium to stop labor in women who go into labor early. So the medicine was working against each other. So by 1:30 pm I was in the OR and by 2:07 pm baby John Cameron was born. He weighed 6lbs 12oz. and 20 Inches long! It sucks that I couldn't even experience a vaginal birth or even a labor pain but at the end of the day I had a beautiful healthy baby boy and I couldn't ask for anything more!
