Hey! I just saw in your post below that you are graduating from pharmacy school in May. CONGRATULATIONS! It is my husband's DREAM to go to pharmacy school. He loves chemistry and has been talking non-stop about it. Problem is working it all out with commutes and stuff, juggling it with working full time since we cannot survive on my salary alone, etc.
Where are you going to school? What rotation is this that you talk about? Can you explain a little bit about the process and requirements and stuff so that maybe I can get my husband some of the info that he has not been searching hard enough for?
TIA!

Mel
Re: *Nelcen*
I'm in Nova, Davie campus. VERY LENGTHY commute. The pre-requisites are pretty much the same for most pharmacy schools. I'm not sure what background your husband has but there's so much info its easier to do it over the phone?
Let me know. My e-mail is nelcen02@yahoo.com
Its a very rewarding career, I truly love it.
Thanks for replying.
Are you a Pharmacy Tech right now?
You confirmed it for me. In South Florida there are many Pharmacy Tech programs but only two schools have a Pharmacy College - Nova and PBA in West Palm Beach. Both are super far for us (we live in Homestead). We eventually want to move to WPB since my family lives there but with the way things are we don't see that happening any time soon.
Is Nova a good commuter school? Are classes all day or half days and would he be able to work at least part time while attending?
Thanks for the info and your email.

No, they consider us pharmacy interns. Right now there's UF, PBA, Nova & FAMU with pharm schools. Nova has 3 different campuses: Davie, West Palm Beach and Puerto Rico (they are broadcasted). Its a good commuter school. I actually have a friend who commutes from Homestead. The classes are half the day. Your first year its from like 12-5p, second year and third year 8-1p... monday-friday. Fourth year is 9 months of rotations (each month somewhere different), no classes.
He could work part-time however I don't recommend it the first year, its very grueling, you're studying very long hours. Second, third and fourth year you could work since you're more accustomed to the lifestyle.
Hey meli.?
I don't have personal experience on this but I have two friends who did it. Both of them had to do it on loans. One of them is single and just moved to live on campus (on loans) the other is similar to your case.?
He went to school while my friend worked full time. They have three girls and adjusted to whatever income they had from her plus the extra from loans. ?I know it's not what most of us would love to do but I have heard from them that Pharmacy requires all the attention.?
I think you guys would need to sit down and if this is his dream maybe make some changes and just do it. (girl...its hard and I have no advice).
I think that after pharmacy school he might get a job to cover his students loans if he signs a contract. My single friend did not do it since she did not wanted to be tied to a place but she makes soooo much money that I am sure that paying that student loan is a no brainer.?
Good luck....Making decision about our careers its not easy. I still question myself about my decision of getting an MBA.?
