Dumb question..how do you know when you've dropped?

My co-workers said I look like I have dropped. I've heard ladies say they can breathe easier, etc but I haven't had that problem to begin with. So how will I know? Can you physically feel it? I have been having pain in my lower belly/vajayjay for many weeks. My baby bump (ok not so much a bump anymore!) still looks the same to me.

Re: Dumb question..how do you know when you've dropped?

  • I'm not really sure, so I'm probably not a good person to answer this questions, but I've been wondering this too.  I've had increased pressure in my pelvis for the last few days and I feel like my belly button looks different.  But I'm not sure if I dropped either because it does still feel like she's pretty high up.

  • I was carrying high... so I could def breath easier once baby dropped.  I also all of a sudden felt like my belly was on my lap.  I think this happened between 36 and 37 wks for me.

  • I was certain I had dropped at 32 weeks.  I can even remember the day.  All of the sudden I had to go to the bathroom even more than usual.  And every time I got up from a sitting position I could feel tremendous pressure on my pelvic bone (not really pain, but the feeling that if I got up too fast, the baby was going to fall out).  I could just tell that the baby was suddenly sitting on my bone.

I couldn't tell by looking at my stomach.  I've been huge from day 1.  I also didn't notice the breathing easier thing....but I noticed that I wasn't complaining about breathing as much.

I went to the doctor a few days later and he confirmed what I knew in my head.  The baby dropped early.

    Hope this helps!

  • They're telling me the same thing at work; but I dont see it. Maybe the getting up 6 times last night to go potty is a clue? lol I set a new record for myself with that one.
  • I am apparently at 0 station (just had my 37 week this morning), but don't feel any different than before - and I don't think I look any different, either.  I have felt more pressure in my cervix in the last week or so, but that's really it.  I think it must depend a lot on how you're built and how your baby is built (we're both kind of tall & skinny, so I've been carrying him pretty vertical all along)...I figure the baby can probably drop without there being a visible difference, but if people can visually tell that you've dropped, that must mean something!
