Is it ok to wash bottles in dishwasher?

We have Born Free bottles and so far have been washing them by hand and then using a sanitizer. I am going back to work, so my nanny is going to use a lot more bottles during the day. What are the rules for using a dishwasher to wash them? Is it ok? If so, do we still have to sanitize after we wash? TIA!?

  • I use the Medela BPA free bottles and put them in the top rack of the dishwasher.

  • Yes. But my dishwasher sux so I hand wash and then once a week I steralize for a good cleaning.
  • it's ok to wash them in the dishwasher. it should sanitize them in the process.
  • We use BornFree bottles and just put everything in the top rack.  Once every couple of weeks I'll boil things for some extra sterilization but I don't think I need to continue doing that.
  • We have born free as well and I usually hand wash them but sometimes I put them in the dishwasher top rack.  We also sterilize after a normal wash but it's only six extra minutes.
  • I use to wash my bottles in the dishwasher, but then I started to question if it was safe because we use a rinse agent so it made me wonder how much of that stays on the bottles.  There's been no reports of anything bad, but I haven't heard otherwise and it just made me uncomfortable.  So I do them by hand

  • I wash my Born Free ones in the dishwasher and I sterilize them once per week.

  • We also use Born Free.  In the cleaning instructions is says they can be washed in the dishwasher and to put them on the top rack.  (We sanitized them and all parts after we opened each one.)
