3rd Trimester

measuring a wk behind?

I went to my 30 wk appt & she said that the baby isnt too big or too small but that I'm measuring a week behind. She said everything was fine but I'm just worried? Sad

On a better note ive only gained 3 pounds since my last visit. I started out prepregnancy @ 112 & I'm now @ 128. Not too shabby in my opinion Yes

Re: measuring a wk behind?

  • It's ok. I'm at least a week behind at everytime and they said it's normal.

  • My baby boy is measuring opposite, he always measures bigger.  I go in two weeks for my 30 week appointment nad my dr told me if he is still measuring so much larger they may schoose a date earlier than my due date to schedule me for induction.  He was measuring 4 weeks larger at 20 weeks (he was the size of 24 week baby).  My husband was 9 lbs 9oz so looks like he may be taking after his daddy.

  • Don't worry.  I'm sure all is well.  I'm measuring 6 weeks behind at this point and have been consistently measuring behind for about 2 months.  However, the growth u/s put his weight right on w/ gestational age.

  • also keep in mind the measuring isn't very "exact." it's kind of where they think they should stop/start. i noticed when i went to my last few when the nurse measured me, it was different than what my doc said. she told me i was small, i was all worried and freaking out and then went in for the ultrasound and he was normal size

  • I measure 3 weeks behind.  DD was super small, she is fine.  Some people have smaller babies than others
  • I'm measuring about 2 weeks behind and since I had 2 miscarriages the doctor put me on bed rest but she also said she is not worried...  I have been resting as needed but since there is no research saying bed rest helps I've still been moving around (not too much but getting some chores done).

My other friend is a gyno and she said it's fine b/c he is getting enough blood flow from the cord and the amniotic fluid is fine.  Not to mention DH was a tiny baby...  So I'm not really worried.
