what is wrong with "sherpa-y"?

i see people all the time on DS reassuring that their GMs are not yet sherpa-y. why is it bad? just because it means they were washed a lot? or is there something else?

i only ask because i LOVE my sherpa/flannel wipes. they are so soft and i can only imagine that the sherpa would feel nice on the tushie!
