I agree with the pp that guess what candy is poo game is vile. I personally dislike the games but bingo is usually standard and not that awful. I also like the diaper toss game - it gets people up and moving.
The only "game" I like is the one where you have a bunch of questions to quiz the guests about how well they know the mom-to-be. You could also do some activities rather than games. I'm throwing a shower next month and am going to have the guests paint white onesies with fabric markers.
At my shower we did a game that I really liked. The host had purchased a bunch of baby items (all small things, like socks or a sippy cup), and everyone had to guess the price of each item. The person that came closest to the correct total won and got a prize, the mother to be keeps the baby items.
Put plastic pacifiers on a ribbon (like a necklace) and give one to each guest. The object of the game is for everyone not to say the word "baby" --and for people to try and make others say it. If you say "baby" and get caught, you give your necklace to the person who caught you. Person with the most necklaces wins a prize. You can time the game for like 30 mins.

At the shower I hosted for my BFF we did "teen time capsules"
The guests were invited to write trivia about 2009 or words of wisdom for the kids (twins) to open and read on their 16th birthdays.
It was hilarious hearing everyone giving dating advice to the boy and the girl.
Now I'm waiting for the parents to write letters to the kids and then I'll seal the bottles (container store - they're like wine bottles but not wine bottles) with wax and make labels for them once the babies arrive and have names.
On their 16th birthday they'll smash the bottles open and read all the messages inside.?
Again - something to get people involved but not something that puts anyone on the spot or makes them uncomfortable.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
NOT the candy bar baby poo game. The idea behind that one still makes me shudder. Ick.
I HATE shower games and I have to play this one tomorrow. I would honestly ask the mom-to-be what kind of games she likes or might be comfortable playing. I know that I would have NO games if it were brought to me and just do something low key like decorating the onsies or making a time capsule thing. Just me though...

Agreed. Tacky. I did not like bringing the diaper up to my nose to smell it. hehe. but really. I didn't. And i don't understand why people don't like baby shower games! I don't see anything wrong with them and i'm more than happy to play them! Go to www.plan-the-perfect-shower.com and go to the games theres every game you can imagine! plus things you can print out to play with.

This is a game my friend is planning for one of my showers. Except the concept is a little different, instead everyone gets a blue/green bracelet/ribbon and Instead of saying the word baby You can't cross your legs If someone see's you crossing your legs they can take all of your ribbons and if you see someone crossing their legs you can take all of their ribbons and the one with the most ribbons at the end of the shower wins a prize
I know its cheesy but i loved this game. you take little plastic babies, like what you would get at a craft store and freeze them in ice cubes. give each guest a cube and see who gives birth first (melts out completely). I'm competetive so i of course blew hot air in my cup but it was really fun!
I am not a fan of the candy bar poo game, or the smell/taste the baby food (to guess what kind it is) game. They're just... messy! I guess the games that require a lot of prep and setup are NMS. The games I like don't require anything but some paper, a few printouts, and a ball of string.
Here are some of my favorites:
The Tummy Game - Guests guess at the string length that will fit around mom-to-be's waist. The person who comes closest wins.
The Name Game - This is usually timed... guests list baby names from A to Z. This is kind of like Scattergories - If someone else gets the same answer (say, Adam for A), they lose a point. They do get a point for every unique answer. So, whoever has the most names filled in with the most unique answers wins.

I've posted this before but if someone is looking for a fun game this is hilarious.? My DD's friend did it at her shower.? She wrapped a box with several layers of different colored/pattened tissue and then sent it around the room.? When the music stopped the person holding it had to take off one layer of tissue.?Then the music started and then stopped again until all the tissue was taken off.?They were told that in the box was a "pair of bloomers" and that whoever took off the last piece of tissue had to wear the bloomers for the rest of the shower.? Well, of course no one wanted to end up with the box so it was like the "hot potato" game.? It was hilarious.? I'd say she wrapped it about 15 times (there were 40 people there).? Anyway, when the guest took off the last tissue paper and opened it and saw what was inside she was pleasantly surprised.? There was a corsage made with 2 flowers (pair of bloomers).? Obviously her friend wrapped it carefully (bubble wrap) so it wasn't destroyed because some people were throwing it into the other person's lap to get rid of it before the music stopped.? There were a couple of younger (think young 20's) who did not know what "bloomers" were...but there were many older women who explained what they were.?They played this game first...so the guest got to wear it for almost the entire shower.? By the way, people loved it and there was a lot of laughter.
I went to a shower once where we each had to use a piece of BubbleYum gum to sculpt a baby. ?I forgot who had to judge and award prizes, but there certainly were some interesting creations. ?As shower games go, it was not horrible or embarrassing.

I was just at a shower last week and played "Daddy knows best!"
It was a list of regular parenting questions and we had to answer as we think DH would. We had some good laughs.
Like: Anna will start walking when shes... (you don't even want to know hi answer lol) or :the baby" will go through ____ diapers a day..
