i know this sounds stupid, but i would sit in the bathroom with the shower turned on as hot as it would go, stick a towel under the door and sit in there for 15 min...then i would have to go lay on my bed and sit upside down...that was the only way to get gunk out of my lungs when i was younger..i dont know about doing it while preg though,,,
Hi! I'm more of a lurker, but I thought I'd share my (probably unhelpful) 2 cents. I have no idea if this would work during the daytime when you're upright and moving around, but I have that problem when I go to bed. It's been like that for the entire pregnancy, even before I knew I was pregnant! Someone had suggested those Breathe Right nose strips and they worked really well for me at night. They're not pretty so if you have to go out, you may not want to wear them, but it could be worth a try if you're around the house...or really desperate! Good luck and feel better!
Do you have heartburn, by any chance? As it turned out, mine was turning into more of a reflux situation than heartburn, and switching from Tums to Zantac twice a day made a HUGE difference in my voice. I used to sound hoarse all the time by midday, but now that the acid is not eating away at my esophagus (for real!), I sound more like me!
If it's truly just phlegm, yeah, I don't have any other ideas to help.
I have been having the same problem....kind of a bronchitis-like germ situation. ?The best luck I have is when I am taking a shower and let it get decently steamed up...it seems to loosen things up a bit. ?It also has felt good to have water beating down on my chest and back. ?Hope you can get it out!
I'm on day 30 of this and it is finally getting better. Oh the plus side, I gave it to my DH, cousin, her 4 month old and they got better much quicker. My Ob checked again today and thinks my lungs are alright. I have been surviving by taking 4+ baths a day. I just sit and read in the hot water. I keep the water level low enough not to get anywhere near the baby, but hot enough to steam up the bathroom pretty well. Additionally, I have Puffs Plus tissues with Vick in them that seem to help too. The cool mist humidifier has also helped some. Good luck!!! It will get better soon.
Re: Cannot get the gunk out of my throat
hopefully you get some good responses because i'd like to know as well!
i've found drinking coke works alright.
I want to know too.
Lol, I just finished a can!
