I am 19 weeks now and we haven't even been crib shopping yet. We are going next weekend after our ultrasound.
At what point did you start to set things up in the nursery? I know it's probably a long drawn out process as you don't get everything at once.
FWIW - we currently have a friend of the family staying with us (we agreed to let her stay with us 2 weeks before we got out BFP - kinda regretting that decision now!) and the room she is in is going to be the baby's nursery. Hopefully she'll be moving out soon....she knows the room she's in will be the nursery, but I don't really see her acting fast.
Anywho, the room is already painted, so once she does move out, it will be a matter of moving the furniture in that room to a different room and moving the baby stuff in - so far the baby stuff we have is piling up in our office.
TIA!
Re: when did you start setting up the nursery?
We're still working on cleaning out the room, but hopefully that will be finished this weekend.
After that we still need to paint, so I'm hoping to get that done by mid-April. The tricky/frustrating part for me is our nursery furniture is on our registry, so there's a chance we won't have it until after our showers (all in May). My mom and sister are already planning on coming up (they live 4 hours away) to help me put everything together the weekend of May 30.
So, long story short, we won't start putting the nursery furniture/bedding together until 35w.
I started at 20w after our big US, but I have been browsing for weeks. I just ordered the crib last week. This week, we picked out our chair and next week, the carpet tile samples should arrive. We are debating on painting, and if we do, it will be one wall.
You have plenty of time. Just start shopping for ideas and hope your funiture does not take 14weeks to get here, like my chair will!
We painted more than a year ago when we bought the house -- way before bfp, but planning that the room would eventually become a nursery.
I started looking at furniture around 15 weeks and bedding around 17 weeks. But I spent a lot of time deliberating over cost and quality.
We didn't buy anything until after the big u/s at 19 weeks. Cleaned out the second bedroom at 20 weeks and moved nursery furniture in at 21 weeks.
Now we're taking a break for a while, until our glider comes in. I just wanted to start setting things up so the cats have as long as possible to get used to all this new sh!t.
Not until 20 or 22 weeks... and that's actually when we'll start clearing out the room that will become the nursery. I refuse to do it alone, so I'm waiting for DH to be home... and me to be finished with school.
I guess I'm really early here. With the adoption we already had our furniture narrowed down to 3 sets so we made a decision during week 9. We'll order in the next few weeks but only because the place has free lay away so we can make payments and not have to touch savings or charge. We'll have it delivered in July so around 30 wks.
I will wait to pick bedding until we find out what we're having although we plan to stay mostly gender neutral and I have some ideas of what I want.
