4d ultrasound?

I didn't do any genetic screenings and really want to have a 4d ultrasound. I was relieved after my 20 week ultrasound because there were no obvious problems. But I'm nervous about doing a 4d ultrasound in case something is wrong. Anyone else feel like this?

  • The 4d techs arn't supposed to give you diagnosis.  I just delt with a situation from a 3d/4d place where they "thought" they saw something and completely started being more than concerned. And to make it worse... I started googling what they thought it might be.  Talk about being scared. I called my doc immediately and although he was irritated that they had told me this, he made me an immediate sono appointment.  Everything turned out perfect.

This is why these 3D places are not recommended by the ARDMS (ultrasound accreditation)....a "good' 3D place will require that you have a prior official ultrasound prior to going there.  These techs dont always know what they are looking at diagnostically nor do they even have to be a registered sonographer.  I would not rely on them to diagnose anything and I would only do so after having your normal anatomy.
