Dr Appt Today

Today I had a regular checkup with my doctor, everything went well, I got to hear the babies heart beats which I LOVE of course!

He scheduled me in for an ultrasound next week because the babies seem to be sharing a placenta, at this point I asked about a peri cause I have only seen one and that was at 12 weeks for the NT scan. HE said it was not necessary, I found that was ODD cause all of you ladies seem to see peri's.

Anyway though he is concerned a little because I am swelling and have gained whopping 12 pounds in the last 4 weeks!! The god part is that my urine tested well, and my blood pressure it normal!

Another crazy thing he said was that I am measuring 30 weeks, HOLY GROWTH SPURT!

I definiatly can't wait to see the lil ones next week that is FOR SURE!

Re: Dr Appt Today

  • i have only seen the peri for ultrasounds - at 12w for NTS, at 16w for a cervix check, at 20w for the big US and I go tomorrow at 24w for a growth scan and cervix check. .. other than that i don't actually "see" the doctor there - since so far nothing has been wrong- i guess he hasn't had the need to come in and talk to us after checking out our USs.

who does the US's for you? a peri? or just an imaging center?

  • Its just a lady who comes in with the machine to my docs office, she is from the "lab" place. Next weeks scan is for growth and to check on the fluids. My 20 week US was with the lab place lady and I could definiatly tell the difference between the 12 week (with the peri) and the 20 week one.

I just thought it seemed weird, I like hearing about all of you ladies cool appts and hope for the same thing!

  • I'm in a similar situation.  I have yet to actually see a peri, but we just found out there were two babies in there at 19.5 weeks.  My OB's office sends all patients to a fetal health center (in the same hospital) for ultrasounds.  When they saw twins instead of a singleton they had a peri watching and observing on another screen in another room.  That peri also wrote up my u/s report.  I will still go for routine u/s at the fetal health center and observed by a peri inbetween regular OB appointments, so I am not too concerned about only seeing and talking to my OB, especially since she has plenty of experience delivering and monitoring twin pregnancies.
  • I haven't had to see a peri at all, and I'm measuring 10 weeks ahead and have been measuring ahead for a looooong time!

Oh, my doc has an full size ultrasound machine & tech in the office at all times -- I go there for all my "little" ultrasounds, but for my big 20 week one, they send their patients to the hospital imaging center.

  • I haven't seen a peri at all.  My OB office is well trained in dealing with multiples and stated that if I needed to be referred to a peri they would without hesitation.  All of my ultrasounds/growth scans have been at their office where they have a us tech on staff at all times.  It wasn't until I started my NSTs at the hospital (3 weeks ago) did I have my latest growth scan at the hospital.
