introducting solids

Everything I've read says to introduce solids early in the day so you can watch for an allergic reaction.  This doesn't seem possible with getting ready for work and daycare in the morning.  Did you just introduce them early in the evening or did you change your morning routine to feed your DC in the morning?  Thanks.

Re: introducting solids

  • We started in the afternoons, just one new food at a time. I couldn't do mornings for that reason either.

  • For the first few weeks I just introduced new foods on Saturday at lunchtime.  Once DD actually seemed to like eating solids and hadn't had any reactions, we started introducing a few things at an early dinner, but I tried to do as many new foods on the weekends as I could.  There isn't any hurry, so there isn't much difference between introducing 1 new food a week and 2 new foods.

  • I never heard of that.  We also started new foods on Saturday.  We also stopped worrying about it pretty dang soon.  I think there is a bit too much emphasis put on that.  Chances are, your kid isn't allergic to anything.
