How long will DS hate me?

We just had DS #2 a week and a half ago. The first week, DS #1 (who is 19 months old) was his usual happy, energetic self. This week he has done nothing but throw fit after fit (especially if he does not get his way) and completely ignore me. He is really nice and sweet to the baby--so far, but he acts like he hates me. I am trying to spend a few hours each day of one-to-one time with him, but he just wants his daddy or cries the whole time.

Please tell me this is a short-lived phase. I feel so guilty and do not know how to make it better

It will get better! This is just a big adjustment for him to go through.

I'm so sorry. This is definitely a big adjustment to go through (for all of you!). You might want to post this on multiple boards, you will probably get better response. Try 0-6 or 24+ or even parenting.

My son did this to me after DD was born, they are 21 months apart. He was fine for a bit and then he decided daddy was God and wouldn't let me do anything with him. It broke my heart, made me cry on many occasions, made me get mad on a few, but after a while it got better, maybe a few weeks. Once I healed from my c-section and could carry him again we stopped giving him the choice, when it was my night to put him to bed I just took him kicking and screaming, once we were in his room he was always fine. It'll get better, good luck.
