  • Kate looks really bad on resumes, for that reason I really urge to do Katherine and use Kate as a NN.

  • I love Ella Grace :)
  • Stella is my DH's fave name.  I like it too...but my vote is for Ella Grace. it sounds so sweet and innocent.

  • I love all your Kate names, especially Kate Adelyn and Kate Addison. I think they both complement Jack Matthew really well.

Also, I read the pp about the resumes. I'm not in HR, so I can't speak from experience, but I think Kate sounds like a classic, solid name (Kate Winslet comes to mind). I also think that if Kate sounds unprofessional because it originally started as a nn, I would think that the same could be said for Jack.... but Jack is evolving as a completely acceptable proper name. Long story short, I think you're fine "resume-wise" for all of your names.

  • I LOVE Stella Grace or Stella Claire.  I don't like Kate at all (it just looks unfinished.  Of course, I'm not a fan of Jack for the same reason...).  I'm afraid Ella is approaching done-to-death (at least among my IRL acquaintances.  It may not be as common in your area).
  • Kate looks bad on resumes? What a ridiculous comment. I was a corporate recruiter for years and I can assure you that this isn't the case.

That being said, I like Ella Kate.

  • No wonder you're having a hard time narrowing it down - they're all fabulous!!

I'm with the pp on Ella Kate, beautiful!

And I smiled when I read that your son is Jack Matthew. That was a name I've been considering, and I wasn't sure how it worked together...seeing someone else type it was helpful for perspective!

  • i've loved the name Ella for YEARS!!!  i'm just so sad it's become sooo popular!  i seriously know of 4 ella's born in the last year!

I can certainly think of names that fail the "resume test" by a much greater margin!  I also tend to prefer "complete" names over nicknames, but I do think that Kate can also be nice on its own.

Of your choices, I prefer Ella Grace.

I would caution you against Ella Claire (because it is so close to eclair!).

Wow, I'm surprised that you think this. I'm sure you are not the only one, but I've worked in HR, done interviews, etc. for a top financial co. in NYC and I never thought or heard this from anyone at all.  I can see Katie/Katy looking or sounding immature, but Kate is a classic, strong, timeless name in every single English speaking country. Regardless, I have to say that if a company is denying someone an interview or a job based on their name, they are very closed minded and probably not very modern. Maybe that is more common in small towns?  In larger cities, there are always people w/ very ethnic or uncommon names and believe me, there are many very successful ones in white collar jobs. I worked with several when I worked/lived in Manhattan.

  • I love Kate. I don't think it sounds too girly at all, very classic sounding.

Kate Ryan if probably my fave out of those middle names.

A lot of your names are pretty trendy right now, btw, but they are cute no doubt. I agree with pp on Kate Ryan, but what about a more feminine spelling of Ryan; Rhian. I knew a girl named Rhian and thought that was so pretty.

Or Ryann (It is pronounced with the emphasis on the "-ann" but really pretty in my opinion!)

no no no please don't make up spellings!  She'll be correcting people's spelling and pronunciation forever!

  • Being a teacher, I would never do a made up spelling :) I always feel bad for the kiddos who have to pronounce their names! Maybe that is why I like such simple names!
  • I obviously love Jack Matthew... it flows nicely!
  • I love Kate Ryan.  :) GL!
  • Ella would go well w/ Jack.
  • Wow, we totally had similar names on our list.  I love Ella Grace.  That was our choice right up until the end.  We actually ended up using the name Adelyn as a middle name too, that I was really surprised to see because I thought it was pretty rare.  GL- all the names are great!
