So...
if your about to have #2: How old are your other kids that your going to have them hang out at the hospital for a little while? I have a 22 m/o and can invision him wanting to climb on me after having a c/s....
if you do have a special gift from the new baby to your DC, what it is? Something sentimental or just a new toy?
Re: F/O to having #2 (or 3 or 4) question
2-1/2 yrs old. but there will be other people there to obviously keep her from being to rough on me or to rambunctious in the room.
Plus, if she needs to get out, then DH can go and take her home for a while or take her to a park or something. My hosp. has a child development center that they let children play at during the day.
We bought her a big sister book, a coloring book and crayons, and doll that she has been crazy for. It's in a basket all wrapped up pretty for her and we are giving it to her at the hosp. She got a ton of gifts at my baby shower this past weekend also b/c no one wanted to leave her out.
DD is 2 1/2. Last night we went to visit my SIL who just had her 2nd. Baby #1 just turned 2 (on Friday) and he did pretty well. They made sure to say that "mommy is sore" and he had to be gentle (BUT she delivered vaginally). He was pretty good about the whole thing.
As far as the gift goes, I'm just planning on picking up something I think she'll like...not necessarily anything with sentimental value. BIL told me that it was a GREAT idea when introducing our nephew to his little brother. At first, he kinda turned his nose up to the baby but after he found out the baby brought him a present, he was more interested and liked the baby.
BTW how far along are you? You should get a ticker
My DD will be 8 when Rick will be born.
I got her a I am the big sister T-Shirt from the new baby.
My daughter will be about 22 months when this baby is born. She'll only be at the hospital for a little while to visit. She's too young to just hang out there.
We are getting her a cabbage patch doll. She is very into "babies" so I am hoping that she will have "her baby" to take care of when I need to care for "my baby"...
DD -- 5YO
DS -- 3YO
DD will be 2 on the 22nd and my c-section is scheduled for the 30th. DD will come to the hospital to visit with me. How long she stays depends on how she acts when she is there. She is pretty mellow and not a climber so I'm not really worried about that. I just think she will want me to hold her.
We are getting a gift but haven't decided what yet. It will most likely be a new toy and nothing too special.
My DS is turning 2 yo next weekend, so he will be 26 months old when the new baby arrives. ?I think he's still a little young to understand the concept of a gift for the new baby, but we are going to buy a gift for DS #1 so that he feels included in all of the gift giving. ?We need to move the glider out of his room and into the new baby's room, so we are going to buy a pottery barn kids chair for him with his name on it.
?
We are not sure what we are going to do when I go into labor. ?My inlaws are going to be here a week before the new baby is supposed to arrive, so maybe the baby will be early. ?If not, I have a huge list of people that I can call that includes babysitters, family and friends. ?My DS is a super busy toddler, so I know he won't do well in the waiting room.?
