A few questions for those of you that have this stroller...
Is this stroller compact and lightweight enough to take the place of an umbrella stroller, or should I also register for a MacClaren?
Does the 2009 model have a belly bar? It seems like there is only one that is compatible with the 2008 model.
I have read reviews that the belly bar can be used in place of the car seat adaptor... Is this true? Is this safe? It would be great to save money and not buy the car seat adaptor.
How young can a baby be when it can be put in the stroller without a carseat?
Re: City Mini Stroller
we got the city mini...although we haven't used it yet.
But to answer your questions, these are my thoughts:
Is this stroller compact and lightweight enough to take the place of an umbrella stroller, or should I also register for a MacClaren? We plan on this being DD exclusive stroller. Right now we are using the graco snap n go with her car seat.
I think it is very light weight at 17lbs and it's ease of use will make it our exclusive stroller.

We did not get the belly bar. We got the child tray instead. The Belly Bar seemed useless and I didn't understand what it was for. As I understand it, there is a different bar for the car seat and the belly bar is not used for the car seat.
We decided to save the initial wear and tear on the stroller and get the graco snap n go ( it cost $60 same price as the car seat adaptor) for ease of use and it is lighter weight than the city mini.
How young can a baby be when it can be put in the stroller without a carseat? As for this, I am not realy sure. I will say that from what I have read in reviews, parents complain that there isn't enough support in the city mini for infants that can not hold their heads and sit up on their own, so it isn't ideal for young infants ( again why we are using the snap n go)
Good luck with your decision! We LOVE the city mini and really can't wait to use it!
FWIW, the accessories we got were:
parent console
child tray
cup holder (holds a full bottle of wine ;-) great for trick or treating, ooops did I really say that?)
padded shoulder straps for comfort
I am about to log off and only have a second... but I just thought I'd add that we love our City Mini! We had a Maclaren stroller frame to use with our infant seat for the first few months.... but now that DD is bigger, we use the City Mini a lot. We will use it exclusively once we switch her to a convertible carseat that we can't take in/out of the car. It's SO lightweight and easy to fold and maneuver - you definitely do not need to register for a Maclaren. There's no need. This is just as light (if not lighter) and even easier to pack up in the car... it literally folds in half.
I would just get a snap n go frame for your infant seat and use the City Mini in a few months... it was the best combo - I highly suggest it.
