B-day present for 1 year old boy

A little boy in my mom's group is having his party next week.  Any gift suggestions? TIA

    I have a few 1st birthdays to go to, and I plan to get them all new fun books and educational materials. Toys are over done, and clothes are too personal.

    You can prob get him anything you would get your DC. They toys at one are still pretty gender neutral. You can always ask the mom if there is anything he wants

    Do you think PJs would be too personal?  I am always looking for cleaning PJs myself in my house.  If mom hates how they look she does not have to worry about wearing them in front of me.  I plan to include a gift receipt.

    I think some toys are great, because a lot of new mom's don't have a lot of toys for their LO and kids play everyday with toys...I got DS a little people set for his one b-day, it's the pirate ship one!! very cute!
