Irritated about my tax return

So we went to our account almost a month ago now and still don't have our money.  DH got a VW Jetta last year and its considered a "green" vehicle and we get a $1300 credit because of this.....awesome right????  Well because the IRS can't get their act together the form that he needs to file for this credit hasn't been approved by the government yet.  For the past 3 weeks he keeps telling us it will be next week, next week.....UGH, now we are getting to the point of DS's b-day party and our weekend out of town and don't have the money we were planning to have.  So I send our accountant and email and he tells me (after 3 weeks of hearing, next week, next week) that we can file now and then file an amendment after the other form is approved.  UGH, why didn't he just tell me that in the first place???????????????

  • i feel for you.  we filed at the begining of february. last friday i get a letter from my work saying that they reported my income wrong and now i'll have to file an ammended return.  so we have to go back to our accountant and we already got our return (and spent it) so i'm not sure what will happen with that. why can't people get their crap together?
  • That stinks, but really, when we take our stuff to the accountant, I don't expect him to be finished for at least 4-6 weeks.  Given that he was trying to do the most efficient thing for you, I'd cut him a break, he's super busy this time of year.

I don't disagree with you, but he wasn't busy at all when we went in and ours is always filed the day we are there and we have the money a week and a half later.  This is the first time in 5 years is wasn't that way...

Wow!  Our accountant must spoil us.  This year took the longest we have ever had to wait and we waited a whopping three weeks between dropping off our paperwork and getting our return.   Usually its two days between dropping it off and coming back in to sign it.  This year it took four.

It's DH's fault, he's self-employed so in any given year he could work for 20-30 different people, which means 20-30 different W2s, all kinds of deductions, milage, meals, etc...It's a huge PITA.
