My babies are taking between 3 and 5 oz. at each feeding and they're only 4 weeks old. I started offering them 5 oz. at a feeding because DS particularly had been crying after finishing 4 oz. and continuing to root. He takes all 5 oz. most of the time. She doesn't always take even the 4, but I've been offering it because she will take all 5 oz. at least once or twice a day. But I'm reading people talking about babies drinking 5 oz. at like 9 weeks. Are my babies freaks? I don't want to overfeed them, but they seem to want it. Thoughts?
Re: How many ounces at one month?
wow, i thought my baby ate a lot. I supplement but mainly BF so there is no way for me to know how much - don't have time to pump right now.
But I'm pretty sure I don't make 4 oz a feeding. In fact, I know I don't. how many times a day are they eating - 8, 9 or 10 or more. I guess that makes a difference becuase if they are only feeding 8 times a day they might need more. I'm sure I feed my DS more than 8 times a day so he eats less at each feeding. Boys might eat more than your little girl does. I think I'm guilty of overfeeding - lactation consultant told me to not give him so much formula, but he also is like yours and demands it. (but that is mainly at night). My son is gaining a ton of weight too.
