Blue Cross Blue Shield

FYI, BCBS insured folks, they made a profit of $186 million last year.  According to my local newspaper The top six executives at Blue Cross each made more than $1 million last year, topped by Chief Executive Bob Greczyn at close to $4 million. Greczyn's annual income included a $3 million bonus and was a 23 percent increase over 2007.  Those a$$holes made a profit of $186 million yet they deny me getting a certain brand of medicine because it is too expensive, I so hate this company.  They also denied my ds insurance when we tried getting him on a personal plan (he's a preemie on Synagis shots) when I lost my insurance through my job.

My husband did eventually get us on his insurance plan which is BCBS, we found out last week that our plan may go up 25-30% next year.  I guess they want to give their executives a larger raise next year!

  • BCBS is a POS. I *HATE* BCBS. I worked for a BCBS for over 9 years. I got denied several surgeries I needed and I worked in the approval dept. They knew me & still denied me. I hate them so much. I understand your frustration.

  • Wow... we have BCBS of Minnesota and have had nothing but good to say so far. We owed close to nothing for DD and they have covered everything we have needed so far **knocking on wood**

It is annoying to see they are making such a profit. Our insurance went up a little bit this year... like $10 per check or something like that.

Wow, this is amazing; although I guess it shouldn't be.

We have BCBS; but it's through my DH's union so it's an excellent plan.  Plus, I don't deal with them direct; I go thru the union.

  • I hate them too.  It costs almost $900/month for health insurance for the kids and I (my company pays, thank God), but for that kind of premium, you think I'd have low co-pays.  Um, no.

And the prescription plan is ridiculous.  It infuriates me when I go to pick up an Rx and I have to shell out a $40 co-pay and it tells me that the insurance paid $3.00.  No wonder.  They have to give themselves these huge_goddamned bonuses.  Jackasses.

Geez... that is a lot! We only pay $200/month  for DH, Emery, and me and our co-pay is $20 for office visits. I have never paid more than $25 for a perscription (and those were my pre-natal vitamins... I was on a relatively new vitamin).

I wonder why our costs are so different?

Plan costs vary based on the size of enrollment, health of participants, etc.

A larger company will have more enrollees so their premiums might be less.

It's all a bunch of BS, though. Health insurance is a right, not a privilege and having to shell out $900/mo is ridiculous!?
