Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Ugh, cooking dinner is getting impossible!

DS has been fussy the past couple of days.  When he was a newborn, I would strap him in the Moby and be able to cook.  The Moby still calms him down, but he has to be into everything I do.  I think it's time to invest in the Ergo!

  • DH watches DD while I cook.

Is that not an option? I thought you weren't supposed to hold babies in carriers while cooking.

This exactly.  Can you put DC in a highchair in the kitchen with you?  If H isn't home yet that's want I do with K and she loves watching me cook/throw the toys I give her on the florr and watch me pick them up ad nauseum.

  • Usually he plays happily in his exersaucer.  This week has just been an exception.  I thought maybe with an Ergo, I could carry DS on my back and keep him away from the stove.

That's what we do.  I could not cook before we came up with this arrangement.  Now I just make quick meals after my husband gets home.  My baby does not let me do anything so I do everything when my husband is around.

  • do you have a slow cooker?  you could throw something in there while he;s napping and then just leave it on all day until you are ready to eat.
  • I would have to say the opposite Liam is much better now than when he was little. Now he just plays on the floor with the pots and pans or sits in his high chair and munches on some cheerios while I cook.

Yes slow cookers are the best!

  • give him measuring cups and spoons to play with while you cook- and talk to him the entire time.
