Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Everytime I see a C-section and I went natural badges in the same siggy.

I think, "WOW!  That chick is hardcore!"

I know they were obviously given anesthesia for the surgery, but I always picture this pumped up pregnant woman yelling 'CUT ME!  I CAN TAKE IT!"

  • I had a section......and yet i am clueless as to what they mean by natural in regard to one?!?!?

  • Yeah, I was just thinking that. Aren't the two mutually exclusive?

    Hahahahaha!!

  • Haha-that was me! Stick out tongue  I feel sort of bad having it there because I know there are women who delivered vaginally and tore, etc without meds but dammit I'm happy I made it that far without drugs!  I can't help it that DS didn't want to come out on his own :)
  • i went natural with the help of an epidural, morphine and some scalpels.

I'm pretty sure they went med-free until they needed the C-section, then had local anesthesia like an epidural.

I take it to mean that there were no meds up until a c-section was deemed necessary.  I made it through 12 hours of labor, dilated to 9cm, and DS never dropped and my body wouldn't go that extra cm so I had to have a c-section.

    This.
  • Heck I was screaming, "GIMME DRUGS NOOOOOWWW!!!" I have had 2 c-sections and demanded their best drugs possible. For the second I asked to be knocked out but the doc refused.

    Ahh, makes sense

  • Um, brandon, are you being seroius? Because that's not natural if you took all of that... 12 hours of labor is NOTHING! I have been at the hospital with clients in labor for 26! Your dr, was just ready to go, he cant tell that your body "wouldnt dialate that extra cm." Uh well duh, becasue your body wasn't ready!
  • imageSpringPeeper:

sweet, so I can have a med-free and an epi badge??

I went med free and pushed for 3 hours before the doctor decided forceps were needed, and an epi was necessary for that!

Yikes! I think you qualify :)  It's not like the bump has rules on who can use them.  You could have gotten an epi at 1cm and still put it in your siggy anyway.

Hmm... I went med-free through 15 hours of active labor. I got to 10 cm and pushed for 2 hours. The pushing ended when OB said it was time for a C-section, and I consented.

I would call this natural with a C. And I disagree with your above sentiment.

Well he was concerned because there was meconium in the fluid, DS was 10 days overdue, I started having severe back labor, and DS was having heart decelerations.  It wasn't just that he was ready to go.  I got to 9cm hours before we decided on a cesarean.

  • Also, Brandons was practicing sarcasm.

Duly noted. Makes the badge issue seem even more silly though. Should everyone have one for each stage/process they went through? (I went "natural" until 8cm, then got the epi, so would I have both badges? No, I'd go w/the last one.) Eh. Whatever...

  • Or they could have more than one child.  C sections are not performed here without drugs.
