When can baby sleep w/ stuffed animal or blanket?

Just wondering when it is safe to let baby sleep with stuffed animal or blanket in crib?

    I think that the threat of SIDS decreases around their first birthday.  That being said, we were using a blanket over our son around 9 or 10 months.  He started sleeping with his favorite teddy bear around his first birthday.

    both my kids had a blanket from day 1.  i think the recommendation is a year.
