Any boys with Hypospadias (sp?)

My LO has this so he is not circumsized yet. The urologist said he just has an unusually long penis (my dh was so proud) and that it will correct itself. We go back in a couple months to see if it has and schedule his circumsision.

Just curious if others did correct itself or if they needed a more intense surgery.

Re: Any boys with Hypospadias (sp?)

  • DS was born with a "partial natural circumcision" so was unable to be circumcised at birth.  We saw a urologist to see if it was hypospadius and he said everything looked okay but he won't be sure until he does his surgery.  They won't schedule his circ until he's 6 months b/c they have to use general anesthesia.  His urologist said it's a simple one-time surgery.

  • My son has this too.  Our appt. with the urologist is not until the 20th though.  I am hoping it will just correct itself too.
  • DS has it, we went to the urologist and he will need surgery between 6months to 1 year but it is ambulatory and non-invasive.  the dr. said not to worry so i'm not!!
  • DS just had surgery for this 2 weeks ago.  he had both hypospadias & chordee.  they completed the circumcision & went inside the penis to correct his urethra tube.  PM or page me if you have other questions.  there aer a few other girls on 6-12 whose sons have had this surgery, as they won'tschedule it until later, so i would ask there.
  • oh yea my guy has chordee too!
  • my oldest had hypospadias and had surgery to correct at age 1. It was relatively quick procedure (under an hour) and once he was out of sedation, he did just fine!
