Are you hanging everything up or putting them in drawers or both?? I can't decide! Right now, we have the 0-3 months onesies in the drawers and the sleepers in the closet with all the larger clothes...it just doesn't feel organized/right though!
Mine will eventually go in drawers, no closet in the nursery. Socks, sleepers in one drawer. Onesies and pants to match in another. Outfits in one. And so forth, that will be my method. Until the nursery is done, they all sit in bags on the bottom of my closet.
I redesigned my system. I didn't particulary like the way I had it with Blaire, so I really thought about it
In the closet I have things haning by size. NB, 0-3, etc. Within each size group I have it grouped by pants, dresses, etc. I don't have a lot inthe way of NB, and 0-3 b/c I don't plan on getting out much. Plus the first 6-8w are likely to be a rotation of warm then chilly days. If the outfit comes with a matching hat, bib, blanket, burpie - it's hanging with the outfit.
The closet is big enough to hang clothes Ihave bought for her and Blaire's hand-me-downs (that will fit in her seasons) up to this time next year. There is one vacuum space bag with a few 12m items that wouldn't fit on the rack yet. I plan to move them over once I take the NB stuff out at the beginning of May or June.
On the door I have a shoe organizer.
I have 4 drawers in the dresser.
Top One- I bought two dividers at BBB. On the left is hair bows and little incidentals like that. In the middle is a bra box (BBB) with sox, and on the right side is bibs and hats and those mittens (which I never used with Blaire)
Second drawer- is gowns. And they are folded and stacked by size. That drawer holds gowns up to 6 months. On the right side is footed jammies up to 6 months.
Third Drawer - is onesies and t-shirts, again folded by size going L-R.
Fourth drawer is gowns, onesies for starting in the fall 6m +.
Under the crib I have a "under crib" storage basket that holds A LOT. it's got regular clothes beginning next spring/summer of 2010. As she outgrows stuff, I'll vacuum seal it and either send it to my ssiter (if her Sept. baby is a girl). Or to consignment. As Blarie outgrows her stuff, the things that will fit in Natalie's season will start the rotation under the crib in the basket.
DH doens't want more kids, and if we do, I'd probably use very little in the way of hand-me downs. I'd be tired of seeing them, plus it'll be a while before we'd have #3 anyway. So, I want them gone regardless.
On the closet shelves I have large canvans totes. One has towells/washcloths. One has blankets. Another has crib sheets, pads, etc.
The two shelves on the changing table have baskets. One basket is burpies the other is diapers.
HTH and please don't think I'm too much of an organized freak.

I just wanted to tell you that you are not an org freak...I am a huge org freak and I think that is why I don't feel comfy with my current system!
I'm hanging everything by size as outfits so DH wont need to worry about putting together an outfit. I'm putting things like plain onesies, pj's, bibs, socks, etc. in the dresser. I have a lot of hand me downs so anything random that doesn't really "go" with anything will be in the dresser too.
