Baby Names

What are some unsual/unique girl or boy names

Weve been through 2 baby books now and still havent found that name that says THATS IT! to us. of course we have lots of time since we are not PG yet, but i love to throw names at DH since hes sooo picky!

So im looking for those unusual/unique names that are not TO CRAZY, we dont like your average Alexander/Christopher/Henry ect.  We like ones that are Rare.

What are some of your favorite ones girl or boy, that you may not hear to often, that you love?

Re: What are some unsual/unique girl or boy names

  • I have a Tillman, you dont hear that too often, and of course we love it.

  • Loading the player...
  • My almost 3year old dd is named Ailey (a-lee) which I love... very different but not so much so that people think it's weird.

And the one on the way will either be Adelyn (nn Addi) or Asher

  • Girl: Poppy, Daisy, Arlie, Isla, Olive, Ashton, Eden, Cambria

Boy: Island, Baylor, Jamison, Cash, Cohen,

I understand you like unique names, but think of your DD or DS. You don't want to name them something that nobody knows how to spell, pronounce, or makes fun of. That's just my opinion, but people choose these unique names and the poor kid has to struggle with that name for the rest of their life. Just think about it.?
  • The names that I love that are unique or uncommon (and thus, DH doesn't like - well, at least most of them he wouldn't use) are:

Girls: Shoshannah, Anais, Iris, Sonya, Rosemary

Boys: Atticus, August, Julian, Calvin, Oren

  • i dont mean by unusual/unique names, things that are hard to pronounce, things that are spelled weird, ect. I mean names that are not very popular, that is something out of the ordinary. I do not want my DD/DS to be the 5th Lindsay/John in their class. (I Was, and hated it)

The names that have been suggested to me are unique/unusual/rare, i dont find them strange or anything to be made fun of. Im not looking for a Nevah, or Pilot Inspketor. Im just looking for something a little outside the box Big Smile

Eh, my name is Aviva and I've always loved having an unusual name.  It can be a PITA sometimes, but I much prefer being named Aviva to being one of 10 Jennifers in my class.

  • My name is pretty unusual- Lorna.  I generally only hear of grandmothers/great aunts who have this name.  It's scottish, and more common over there, so I think most of the old ladies are first or second gen immigrants.
  • I like Reagan (for a girl), Isabella (Bella), Annastasia (Anna). And for a boy: Gunner, Troy, Atticus, Sebastian.
