I've been trying to figure out why it's so painful to BF on my right side. Well today I discovered my problem - I have two small cuts on my nipple. What should I do? BF through the pain? Can I put neosporin on it between feedings (and wash it off before a feeding)?
Re: BFers: Cuts on nipples?
I wouldn't use neosporin, it's actually very allergenic. You could use Aquaphor. In small amounts it's safe, and you don't have to wash it off.
My LC told me to never user Neosporin because it can trap bacteria and cause breast infections.
When I had sores on my nipples, she told me to use Bacitracin ointment. You can find it at Walgreens, CVS, etc. Plus, you don't have to wash it off between feedings.
