I went to a fetal medicine dr. last week for an u/s to check on some CP cysts they found on the babies brain (everything turned out great, cysts were gone now) and he had some options he said he would be discussing with my dr. because of my history of preterm labor and me having a LEEP 2 years ago. He said that he would like to have me start progesterone injections starting at 24 weeks to keep me from contracting, or I could use a vaginal suppository every day. A friend of mine had a hard time getting pregnant and had to take progesterone injections and she told me they are oil based and hurt like no other. Anyone on these injections now? Do they hurt worse than a regular shot? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Re: Progesterone injections .vs. vaginal suppository?
I never had to do PIO shots but I do know they hurt like a mother from what my friends who have been on it have said. It's the oil base the progesterone is in that makes them so painful like your friend said. The oil makes the liquid slow and hard to inject. You get the shot in the ass.
I did take the vag. progesterone supps, Crinone. That sucked too for its own reasons but it's all worth it if you are keeping your baby in there.
