3rd Trimester

Rhogham (sp?) Shot

I'm going to the doc today to get mine. I'm a little nervous about it, but know it's best for me and the baby. Anyone else get this and what was your experience?

Re: Rhogham (sp?) Shot

  • I got mine in 2nd tri around 28 weeks - it's no big deal :-)

  • I got mine a few weeks ago. There was a shot in my hip area. It didn't really hurt. The doctor told me to put cold compress on it the first day and hot compress the second day if I was in any pain.?
  • Its fine - its a quick shot in your arm. Takes 2 seconds. Good luck!
  • I got it, and it wasn't that bad. Just cold and a little sting is all.
  • Not a big deal at all. ?Just be prepared that you may get the shot in the butt or hip. ?Not everyone does (I got mine in the arm). ?No worse than any other shot.

  • I had to get it in the butt.

The flu shot hurt way worse!

  • No one would tell me what to except so I'll explain my experience....

Mine was in the butt, she said hip but that was my butt! It was the medicine that kinda stings and is cold, the actually stick doesn't hurt. They left mine in like 20-30 secs for the medicine to get in there. My butt was sorta sore for a few hours but the next day I couldn't even tell I got it! No biggie :)

  • I'm going on Monday- I'm hoping for the arm shot and not the a$$ shot. :)
  • I got mine at 28 weeks like other people.  It wasn't a big deal, it didn't make me sick or anything.  The only sad part when I got mine is that the nurse told me they give them to all RH- people now because it's for subsequent pregnancies and there is so much infidelity that they can't guarantee people will ahve kids with the same partner/spouse so they give it no matter what.  I thought that was sad.
  • I got mine when I was pregnant with DS and it was no biggie!
  • When I was leaving the doctor?s office after I was given my prescription to get the shot the lady who did my blood work that day felt it was necessary to say ?oh and it burns!? I was not too worried about it, but it was on my mind when I went in for the shot.

I asked the nurse about it and she said ?it might hurt a little?. Looking back it wasn?t that terrible, but not knowing what to expect the ?burning? sensation came as a bit of a surprise. It lasted a few seconds and then was fine. I think my arm was slightly sore to the touch for the rest of the evening, but nothing to be worried about.

I was told I?ll be getting another one after delivery? yippee!

  • I had mine at 28 weeks- no big deal whatsoever- got it in the arm.  It was a little sore for a couple of hours.
