Yes, I am doing monkeys. We found out its a girl. But I don't really want to do pink and I love monkeys. This is the one I picked. It's not as if it's blue.

Why do MIL's care so much about what their grandchild's room looks like? It's your child, your house...decorate it how you want! Some MIL's need to back off!

I think it is cute for a boy or girl. MILs have to many opinions - and plus its your house and baby, not hers....so get what you want!

Tell your MIL that unless she plans to sleep in the nursery OR bankroll the decorating of the nursery, she doesn't have a say in the matter. And FWIW, I also love monkeys!

She can kiss your @ss. I loved green/monkey bedding too, but everyone disapproved, even DH. If HE had been fine with it, we would have similar bedding to you.

That's our 2nd choice bedding too! Granted, we're having a boy, but we wanted gender neutral bedding, and we consider both our sets (NoJo Jungle Tales and the Mod Pod Monkey) to be gender neutral in whites, greens, browns, and animals! Why do monkeys always have to be just for boys?

Same problem with giraffes -- I LOVE giraffes, but they're almost always just on girl/pink things! Why?!?!

I love it for a girl or a boy. DH and I really love monkeys too. As long as you and your SO are happy with it, who cares. I hate the criticism too though.

I think it's cute! My DD has a blue room with blue crib bedding and her room looks super girly. There is no rule that says girls must have pink!

Who said it has to be pink or frilly (or whatever she thinks it should be) just because it's a girl? I think it's cute! It's your baby (as much as they'd like to think differently) and you can do what you want. We're doing Baby Snoopy and chose that before we knew if we were having boys/girls/one of each!

tell her that you want something you'll be able to use 1. if the ultrasound is wrong and 2. for any other subsequent children, whatever the gender.

if all else fails, 3. buy it anyway.
