Babies: 9 - 12 Months

5 mo. feedings

So I'm super confused about feedings...My DD takes about 5 bottles a day and about 2-3 tblsp. of rice cereal 2 times a day. She's doing really well and I read somewhere that next I should incorporate mild veggies into the mix...but how?  Do I mix the veggies with the cereal?  What I read said that she should have about 5 bottles a day, 4-5 tblsp. of rice cereal 2 times a day and then to add in the veggies little by little so that eventually she will be eating 4-5 tblsp. of veggies 2 times a day

WHAT???  I'm so confused.  Any help would be appreciated!

Re: 5 mo. feedings

  • I don't really follow anything specific.  DS started on solids at 4 months.  Now he has breakfast 2-3 tbs of cereal with 1/2 to 3/4 a container of fruit.  At dinner he has an entire container of a veggie sometimes with a bit a cereal (1-2 tbs.  He is breast fed on demand so i can't help with the bottles.  He nurses about every 3 hrs.

  • Have you asked your pedi?

Our pedi recommended we start cereal once a day at 5 months (so we don't start for another week and a half).  Then about a week later, we should add a veggie or fruit.  I asked exactly what you posted...do I mix it in or serve separately at the same time and she told me whichever works best for me (I'm going to serve separately at first and take my cues from DS).
