jury duty and bfing

I just got a jury duty questionaire, I can't serve anyway because I'm not a citizen.  I was wondering, what if you get summoned and you are breastfeeding?  my dd won't take a bottle so I would have to nurse her, how does that work for jury duty?  what if you have a newborn who nurses like every 2 hours?

    I think if you are the primary caretaker of a child under a certain age, breastfeeding or not, you can be excused for jury duty.

    i think you can get out of jury duty if you are the sole caretaker of a child/children.

    if I remember correctly, in ny you can only be excused once. so you're SOL if you ever had to be excused before.

    Maybe this varies by county/state. In our state, you can be excused as long as that circumstance exists. You also have the opportunity to explain to a judge anything out of the ordinary and he has the power to decide. I got called when I was pregnant. I was considered high risk (and actually delivered early about 3 weeks later). I talked to a judge and instead of delaying me (which can only happen once), he excused me completely. I will go back into the pool and could be called later again but I could still be excused at that point if I had a valid excuse.

    I just got a notice last week, and sent in for an excuse since I am the primary caregiver. I also noted for good measure that dd was breastfed. I've never served jury duty since I've had children.

    I'm in Maryland too and received a summons a few months ago. I filled out the questionnaire and explained that I am a SAHM to an exclusively bf baby. I was sent a letter a week letter excusing me. I think I will have babies and bf forever! The last time I went to jury duty I was 8 mo preg and went into pre-term later 10 hours later. Jury duty sucks.
