I woke up today and found a very small amount of brown spotting with discharge. Of course, this has to happen on the weekend and not during the week when it is much easier to get a hold of my doctor. It doesn't look like much at all, and I am wondering if I just overworked this week. Anyone else have this, and what was the outcome?
Re: Maybe TMI, brown spotting
Light brown spotting is not a big deal, it's the red spotting that doctors tend to worry about more, and even that can be normal sometimes. I would not worry unless you have cramping with red blood spotting.
Good luck!

Many women have spotting and end up fine. Many women have spotting and don't. There's no real way to tell you for sure since we aren't physicians.
It could be from exercise, sex, any number of things. Most women don't worry unless cramping accompanies the spotting and/or the spotting turns red.
If you're that concerned, there has to be an on-call/advice number for your obgyn, otherwise women would never have babies on the weekends.
I just went through this rohrs55.
On Thursday morning I noticed brown spotting after peeing. I was going to go to the doctor but opted not to because there was no pain. I then went on to work and around noon had to go the bathroom again where there was a little more spotting and discharge and a little redder this time. I went immediately to the emergency room.
My baby turned out to be fine, nor abnormality with the ultrasound. There was a strong and healthy heartbeat. It instantly made me feel better. Turns out I had a mild irritation.
FYI...the doctor did say that there is more than likely no issue with brown spotting but if you have cramping followed by blood, you should seek medical care immediately. She said that brown spotting could be caused by douching, sex, or any infection such as a bacterial infection.

Just remember that brown = old blood. Often these are from blood vessels on the cervix. It can take a few days for you to notice. ?Many people find that sex causes light spotting including light pink because of an irritated cervix.
It's the cramping with the spotting that you have to be careful of.?
Sorry to hijack this post, I just had to point out that here's a perfect example that the snarkers aren't all bad. Two informative, kind, thoughtful posts from both taelir and HeyyRed.
And to make this relate to the op, yes - brown spotting is scary but totally normal. Keep and eye on it and call the doc if it gets worse or continues for too long.
Thanks. Contrary to some belief, we ARE still helpful in the midst of snark. People just choose not to read those replies. But hey, it's the interwebz, shiit's bound to get twisted every which way.
I had brown spotting yesterday that got a little heavy. I completely freaked out because I've had 4 m/c and my 1st m/c started with brown spotting then turned into red followed by cramping. I called my OB immediately and got an u/s it turns out my babies are fine but I have a subchorionic hemorrhage and am now on bed rest. A SCH is a blood clot that forms around the placenta.
I'm sure your bleeding is nothing, but I urge you to call your OB and let him/her tell you what to do.
