During a bath he is so happy and splashing around. Afterwards he's more awake than he is when he gets up from a long nap. If I did a bath as our bedtime routine I'd be up for hours.
we started showering with her (well i do, and DH takes her from me after)... which she loves (she is mesmerized staring at the water!). but she gets SO UPSET when she gets out, i think because she is cold even though we have a heater in the bathroom, that she never goes to sleep easily afterwards.
i wish it worked to soothe her like other people seem to do. fwiw, she did the same crying thing after the bath before we started showers, so it made no difference. ohh well!
she used to. What helped us was moving her bath to the bathroom. I bath her in the kitchen sink with her music and the lights on and lots of activity during the day (when she needs it) and at night, it's in the bathroom, with low-light, no music, and we speak to her very quietly. Then she gets either a lotion massage, which she absolutely hates, or an oil massage, which she doesn't mind. She's usually still W-I-D-E awake. Into her pjs, and then into the rocking chair for her bed-time bottle. She usually falls asleep with the bottle, but sometimes goes into her crib asleep.
