What is thrush? The very very tips of my nips (sorry...had to make that rhyme. call it sleep deprived humor
) are white-ish. I'm EPing so my DS's mouth doesn't have anything wrong with it. So I'm wondering what's up with the white...
Any ideas?
Re: Tips of nipples white - what is it?
I'm having some pain too. Even with pumping. I've had to turn down the setting from what I normally use.
I have this. I was having extreme pain with DS's latch (for 2 months!) and they kept telling me I had thrush, but I didn't really. It turns out I have what's called Raynaud's, which is characterized by a person's extremities turning white when the air temp changes. Your nips, ears, fingers, and toes (all extremeties) can be affected. Luckily, it's just my nips and I guess I just got used to the pain because after 2 months I don't have pain anymore, even though they still turn white sometimes.
ETA: hayleedeeee describes it much better from the kellymom website below!
It doesn't sound like thrush, like PP said it could be because of temp changes (warm baby mouth to cool air) or it could be this:

Thrush starts out as more of an itchy burning feeling, and can also manifest itself as shooting pains in the breast. But it still might be worth getting checked out just to be sure. Thrush can get bad fast, and be very hard to get rid of. Trust me, you don't want it!?
